I’ve Been Exactly Where You Are Right Now

My son was born with a tongue tie, a lip tie, and body tension that nobody in the hospital could help with. I knew from the very first feed that something was wrong. I was a Certified NICU Occupational Therapist with years of newborn experience and I still couldn’t see my own baby's whole picture clearly when I was surviving one painful feed at a time.

The turning point came when I connected the body tension to the tie to the oral motor dysfunction and addressed the whole picture together. February 19, 2023. I’ll never forget the morning the first feed didn’t hurt and we didn’t use a nipple shield. I sat in the nursing chair and cried. Not from sadness. From the particular fullness of something finally working after weeks of pushing through something that was never supposed to feel that way.

That morning is the reason Lovely Littles Therapy exists. I built the practice I wish had existed when I was sitting in my own nursing chair at 5am wondering if it was ever going to get better.
